White Rock

White Rock, Villa, Les Vigneaux, France

The steepness of the plot and the closeness of the neighbours in this residential area triggered the use of an unused typology in this mountain area: a green, planted roof and a half-buried house. This apparatus is thermically efficient and visually harmless for the house above at the same time.

The owner of the top house then can benefit from this new construction, whose roof makes a huge south-facing terrace.

The building gives a lot of freedom to its inhabitants, as it is discreet and balanced not only in terms of footprint on the plot, but also of facades, materials, esthetics and use.
